Abstract
From satellites to bridges, all structures are subject to external forces during operation, making the identification of their dynamical behavior a fundamental problem. Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA) is an experimental and theoretical framework that has, for decades, enabled the characterization of structural dynamics across a wide range of industries.
In this talk, I will present the core mathematical ideas behind EMA, together with recent algorithmic developments in the estimation of frequency response functions, spectral parameters, and mode shapes. I will also discuss open problems and future research directions in the field.
