The Cancer Therapy Resistance Lab at CIC bioGUNE, led by Dr. Ana Ruiz-Saenz, seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong interest in cancer biology and translational cancer research. The successful candidate will lead a research project focused on establishing cancer–immune co-culture systems, generating clinically relevant cellular models, and processing and analyzing patient-derived samples in the context of inflammatory diseases.
The selected candidate will independently design, execute, and interpret experimental studies, contribute to the development of new research directions, and disseminate findings through scientific publications, conference presentations, and grant-related manuscripts.

Description:
The Cancer Therapy Resistance Lab at CIC bioGUNE (Bilbao-Spain), led by Dr. Ana Ruiz-Saenz,
strive to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance to targeting therapies.
Current and future projects are exploring new aspects of resistance to targeting therapies
(antibodies, and antibody-drug conjugates) integrating clinical data, 3D cancer cell models,
high-throughput approaches and co-culture systems.
The successful candidate will lead a research project focused on the establishment of cancer–
immune co-culture systems, generation of clinically relevant cellular models, and the
processing and analysis of patient-derived samples in the context of inflammatory diseases.
The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to independently design, execute, evaluate, and
interpret experimental assays, as well as to contribute to the development of new research
directions within the project. Responsibilities will include the preparation and dissemination of
research findings through scientific publications, conference presentations, and the writing of
abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and international meetings. Specific
research projects and responsibilities will be tailored to the candidate’s scientific interests,
expertise, and long-term career goals.

Essential skills and qualities:
• Candidates must hold a PhD in Biomedicine and Molecular Biology or related field
awarded in the last 3 years.
• Previous experience in biological tissue processing, cell culture and flow cytometry in
the field of immunology is a must.
• Excellent communication skills with colleagues and scientists. Proficiency in English and
strong work ethics (Laboratory language English).
• Strong organization skills and project management.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team and a high degree of
responsibility, flexibility, commitment and interest in scientific work and laboratory
activities.

Successful applicants will be hired on a full employment contract with a competitive salary. The
position is available immediately until filled and covers 1 year of research. As a postdoc at CIC
