The University of Deusto is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Chair of Computational Mathematics (CMC) and the Computational Mathematics Research Group within the Faculty of Engineering at the Bilbao campus. The selected candidate will conduct high-quality and independent research aligned with the group’s agenda in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, focusing on their mathematical foundations and industrial applications. The researcher will contribute to the development of the group’s research lines and collaborate in advancing scientific knowledge in computational mathematics through research, publications, and participation in competitive research projects.

The selected candidate will join the Chair of Computational Mathematics (CMC) and the Computational Mathematics Research Group (CMRG) at the University of Deusto and contribute to the development of research activities in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, particularly in their mathematical foundations and industrial applications.
The researcher will conduct high-quality and independent research aligned with the research agenda of the CMC and CMRG. The position involves contributing to the advancement of research lines in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and related applications.
Responsibilities will include publishing scientific results in high-impact journals indexed in WoS and SJR together with members of the research group. The candidate will also collaborate in competitive research projects funded by institutions such as the Basque Government, the Spanish Government, and Horizon Europe, as well as contribute to the preparation and submission of competitive research proposals.
The researcher will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigators Enrique Zuazua and Umberto Biccari and will collaborate with the research team on scientific publications, project development, and dissemination activities. Participation in scientific conferences and outreach activities related to the research lines of the group is also expected.
The position requires collaboration within an interdisciplinary academic environment and active participation in the research activities of the Chair of Computational Mathematics and the Computational Mathematics Research Group.

Benefits:
• 3-year research contract at the University of Deusto
• Annual gross salary between €37,000 and €41,000 depending on the candidate’s experience, distributed in 15 monthly payments
• Contract under the associate researcher (investigador/a asociado/a) category
• Expected start date: 1 September 2026
