Job Summary
The University of Deusto is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the BIOTECH Research Group within the Faculty of Engineering at the Bilbao campus. The selected candidate will contribute to the BIOTECH Lab research activities, particularly within the eVIDA 4.0 and Biomechatronics research lines, focusing on applied technologies related to human and environmental health. The position addresses technological solutions in the field of Biomedical Engineering 4.0, including applications in medical specialties such as oncology, dermatology, gerontology, cardiology, and omics, as well as environmental health challenges such as climate change and food safety. The researcher will collaborate in interdisciplinary research, scientific publication, and project development, contributing to innovative health ecosystems through responsible technological adoption.

Description:
The selected researcher will be fully integrated into the BIOTECH Lab research team and will contribute to the eVIDA 4.0 and Biomechatronics research lines. The work will focus on applied technological solutions related to health and well-being within the field of Biomedical Engineering 4.0, addressing both human and environmental health challenges.
Research activities will involve the development and application of technologies across multiple medical specialties, including oncology, dermatology, gerontology, cardiology, and omics, as well as research areas related to environmental health such as climate change and food safety. The researcher will collaborate with the team on technological developments involving artificial intelligence (including classical approaches and quantum computing), biosensing systems and the Internet of Things, biosignal processing (1D, 2D and 3D), virtual and augmented reality, and 3D manufacturing.
The candidate will actively participate in the formulation and implementation of competitive research projects, including projects funded by institutions such as the Basque Government, the Spanish Government, and Horizon Europe. Responsibilities will also include contributing to joint scientific publications in high-impact journals and supporting knowledge transfer initiatives aimed at public administrations, the productive sector, and civil society.
Additionally, the researcher will contribute to the development of participatory methodologies and training activities that promote the responsible adoption of technological solutions. Through these activities, the candidate will support the interdisciplinary collaboration, scientific impact, and strategic development of the research team.
Benefits:
• 3-year research contract at the University of Deusto
• Annual gross salary between €37,000 and €41,000, depending on the candidate’s experience, distributed in 15 monthly payments
• Contract under the associate researcher (investigador/a asociado/a) category
• Expected start date: 1 September 2026
