Job Summary
A PhD Fellowship in Chemistry is available in the group of Dr. Clara García-Astrain (Functional Polymers for (Bio)sensing, www.funpolysens.com) and the group of Prof. Radmila Tomovska (https://polymat.eu/en/research/Novel-Applications) at the Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering, POLYMAT Fundazioa (www.polymat.eu).
Job Description
The project will focus on the development of polymeric-based sensors and their incorporation into graphene hydrogels in structured reactors for in situ monitoring of dissolved CO2 in aqueous environments.
Applicants must have a BSc and MSc in Chemistry, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering with a strong background in polymer synthesis, organic synthesis and materials characterization. Knowledge of sensing materials and sensor development will be also considered.
Good command of written and spoken English is a must (if preselected, an online interview will be carried out before any other appointment is made). The selected candidate is expected to conduct research, write papers, establish interdisciplinary collaborations and deliver a PhD thesis. Research contract duration: 3 years. Starting date: 1st of January 2026
