Job Description
Cell Metabolism Reprogramming via Therapeutic Nanocapsules to Modulate Microglial Polarization and Alleviate Neuroinflammation - TeraGlia
We offer a highly multidisciplinary postdoctoral research project at the intersection of biology, nanotechnology, and polymer science and engineering. The project focuses on the design, fabrication, and characterization of therapeutic nanoparticles aimed at modulating microglial polarization and controlling neuroinflammation.
The project will be carried out between two research groups at POLYMAT, a vibrant multidisciplinary and international research institute located in Bilbao and San Sebastián, Spain. The selected candidate will be primarily based in Bilbao. POLYMAT offers excellent working conditions and is well equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and facilities.
Required qualifications and experience.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Neurobiology, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related discipline. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary and international research environment. Proven experience in cell and molecular biology is essential, including proficiency in standard techniques such as immunostaining, flow cytometry, ELISA, and RT-qPCR. Ideally, candidates should have hands-on experience working with immune-related cell types, particularly microglia or macrophages. A strong command of written and spoken English is required.
Applications should be addressed to Dr. Aitor Larrañaga and sent via email in one single PDF to aitor.larranagae@ehu.eus before the 15.11.2025 including:
(i) a cover letter highlighting their interest in the position.
(ii) curriculum vitae.
(iii) a short description of previous research (1-2 Pages).
(iv) the names and contact addresses (e-mail) of two academic referees.
POLYMAT has obtained the ‘HR Excellence in Research award‘. The award reflects our commitment to continuously improve our human resource policies in line with the European Charter for Researchers, the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and our commitment to achieve fair and transparent recruitment and appraisal procedures
