Job Summary
The POLYMERS & SOFT MATTER Group at CFM is offering a predoctoral position (18
months) starting on July 1 st , to work with Dr. Jon Maiz, in collaboration with Dr. Guiomar
Hernández from Uppsala University (Sweden), focusing on the experimental preparation of
solid polymer electrolytes, their characterization, device fabrication, and prototype testing.
Job Description
This position will be partially funded by the IKUR Strategy-Neutrionics 2025-2026 of the
Department of Science, Universities and Innovation of the Basque Government.
The selected candidate will be hired by the Research Association MPC - Materials Physics
Center. The salary will be of 17.398,20 euros before taxes.
The Polymers & Soft Matter Group at the Center for Materials Physics focuses on
fundamental problems related to the structural and dynamical properties of soft matter
systems, primarily based on polymers. Current research topics include functional polymer
synthesis, novel chain topologies, and the self-assembly of various polymer systems. For

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or
Materials Engineering, preferably with a focus on polymers. Expertise in polymer
characterization is highly valued for this position, along with experience in microscopy,
scattering techniques, and thin film preparation.
