Job Summary
A postdoctoral position is available at the Bionanoplasmonics Laboratory, under the supervision of Prof. Luis Liz-Marzán. The research, which will be carried out at CIC biomaGUNE, in San Sebastián (Spain), revolves around the experimental and theoretical study of chiral growth mechanisms in metal nanoparticles. The project (ERC-Synergy grant Chiral-Pro, GA nº 101166855) is supported by the European Research Council.
Job Description
In collaboration with the University of Antwerp and the University of Michigan, this project aims at the tailored formation of handshake complexes (with chirality-directed recognition) between chiral nanoparticles and proteins or protein assemblies. The proposed post-doc research will focus on experimental investigation and theoretical modeling of chiral nanoparticle growth directed by chiral ligands.
The selected postdoctoral researcher will be in charge of a systematic study of the growth mechanisms of chiral metal nanoparticles, using gold nanoparticle cores with diverse morphologies and under the effect of various chiral ligands. The study will also involve theoretical modeling, including density functional theory (DFT) and potentially molecular dynamis (MD) simulations. Experimental and theoretical work will be supported by consortium members and research stays at collaborators' labs will likely be required.
