Job Summary
We are currently accepting applications for the above mentioned position. This is a unique opportunity for junior researchers with a recent PhD degree in Physics or related fields to join one of DIPC’s high-profile research teams.
Job Description
The Neutrino Group at the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) is dedicated to advancing fundamental research in neutrino physics, with a particular emphasis on developing innovative gaseous detector technologies. We are seeking a physicist with significant postdoctoral experience in detector R&D and expertise in neutrino experimentation to contribute to and lead projects focused on gaseous detectors. This position involves active participation in the design, development, and optimization of state-of-the-art detector components for ongoing and future neutrino experiments.
You will join the DIPC Physics Department and are expected to play a pivotal role in the development of the GanESS detector. Responsibilities include overseeing calibration activities, contributing to data preparation for analysis and simulation. Experience in the analysis of gas-based detector data will be particularly valuable.
Desired background & competences
Experience:
Experience in development, construction and operations of large noble-gaseous particle detectors.
Experience simulation and data analysis.
Technical competencies:
Knowledge and application of gaseous based particle detection technologies
Simulation, design, and development of noble-liquid based detectors (or similar detector technologies) for accelerator-based experiments.
Assembly and system integration of medium size detectors and instrumentation.
Knowledge and application of event reconstruction techniques.
Working conditions
Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales
Target start date: 2025/01/01
We provide a highly stimulating research environment, and unique professional career development opportunities.
We offer and promote a diverse and inclusive environment and welcomes applicants regardless of age, disability, gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.
The center
DIPC is a research center whose mission is to perform and catalyze cutting-edge research in physics and related disciplines, as well as to convey scientific culture to society. Located in Donostia / San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain), DIPC was born from a strategic alliance of both public institutions and private companies. Since 2008 DIPC is a 'Basque Excellence Research Center' (BERC) recognized by the Basque Government's Department of Education. In 2019, DIPC was also recognized as a "Severo Ochoa" Excellence Center by the Spanish Research Agency.
About the team
The Neutrino Group at the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) is a dynamic team engaged in cutting-edge research in neutrino physics and detector development. The group participates in different neutrino experiments looking for neutrino less double beta decay, neutrino-nucleus coherent interaction and neutrino oscillations. The group counts with a strong technical team with several engineers and students.
