Job Summary
The Bottom-up Cell Biology Lab (CIC biomaGUNE) and The Chemical Glycobiology Lab (CIC bioGUNE) are hiring a PhD candidate to work on a project jointly mentored by Dr. Natalia Baranova and Dr. Luca Unione. The student will acquire a broad range of technical skills, specifically in microbiology, bottom-up reconstitution, biophysical surface-sensitive techniques, molecular biology (recombinant protein expression/purification) and NMR, as well as diverse microscopy approaches.
Job Description
The project: microbial biofilms cause a range of emerging societal problems, including antimicrobial resistance. In this project, we will reverse engineer the biofilm matrix, focusing on exopolysaccharides and adhesin proteins, to derive the relationship between the molecular composition and biological functions of this assembly.
We are looking for excellent, highly motivated, and scientifically curious members. We are also highly committed to ensuring that the new team member receives individual support and training and enjoys time spent in our labs.
The Institutes:CIC biomaGUNE and CIC bioGUNE are internationally leading research institutes with expertise in biomaterials, biophysics, glycobiology, chemical immunology, structural and cell biology. Our institutes aim to attract professionals from all over the world and support excellent-level research. The candidate will join the Molecular Medicine or Chemistry PhD Programs at the University of the Basque Country (Leioa).
