Job Summary
NanoGUNE is a research center devoted to conducting world-class nanoscience research for a competitive growth of the Basque Country. NanoGUNE is a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) and is recognized by the Spanish Research Agency as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence.
Job Description
The prospective candidate will work on the application of a novel mass detector that enables the detection of high-mass proteins to above the 2-Mega-Dalton range.
The main aim is to analyze complex solutions of proteins and gauge the total mass range, resolution, and speed of the new detector. The candidate is expected to also connect to the private sector and promote the present research activities in terms of its application in the field of pharma and biotech. Expertise in other areas of application such as environmental or food science will be valued along with previous experience in business development.
The position is expected to start on 01/09/2024. The initial appointment is a fixed-term post-doctoral position for one year.
If progress establishment in collaboration with the private sector is successful, this contract might be extended to a permanent position of a new spin-off company.
The candidate should have a PhD in chemistry, possibly mass spectrometry, with a strong background in protein preparation and separation techniques. Further, the candidate should be skilled in handling complex protein solutions. Experience in mechanics/engineering of parts will be valued. Proficiency in spoken and written English is compulsory.
