Job Summary
CIC energiGUNE is seeking a person interested in pursuing a PhD in the design of new electrolytes for solid-state lithium metal batteries. The project will be developed within the frame of a European project, allowing the predoctoral student to be in contact with renown international companies and research centers. The aim of the project will be to develop hybrid gel polymer electrolytes and characterize the interfacial phenomena in solid-state batteries.
Job Description
Key tasks for doctoral candidate:
Desing and development of new hybrid gel polymer electrolytes tunning the chemistry of the different components (polymer, salt, plasticizer, additive).
Physicochemical and thermal characterization by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA).
Electrochemical characterization to understand the performance of developed electrolytes in solid-state batteries and the degradation mechanism, combined with interfaces analysis by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
Presenting results at international conferences.
Preparation of reports and papers for submission to peer reviewed journals
The candidate will belong to Organic and Hybrid Materials group and will collaborate in polymer solid-state batteries research line.
Area: Electrochemical energy storage (EES)
Research group: Advanced electrolytes and cell integration (Organic and hybrid materials)
Research line: Polymer-rich electrolyte batteries
