PhD student in biomimetic nanoparticles for improving pulmonary disease treatments

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated student who has recently graduated in Biotechnology, (Bio)Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related fields to join the Molecular and Functional Biomarkers group at CIC biomaGUNE for a Ph.D. program. During the Ph.D., the candidate will be involved in the development of biomimetic nanoparticles as carriers for antifibrotic drugs and the evaluation of those therapies in vitro and in vivo. The goal of the project is to produce effective antifibrotic nanoparticles against idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated student who has recently graduated in Biotechnology, (Bio)Chemistry, Pharmacy or related fields to join the Molecular and Functional Biomarkers group at CIC biomaGUNE for a Ph.D. program. As part of the group, the candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Susana Carregal Romero, a research associate with a broad experience in nanoparticle synthesis, drug encapsulation, and delivery.
During the Ph.D., the candidate will be involved in the development of biomimetic nanoparticles as therapeutic carriers for antifibrotic drugs against idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The research work will be multidisciplinary and will involve the synthesis and labeling of nanoparticles with magnetic atoms and radioisotopes to perform non-invasive imaging studies in vivo, as well as the encapsulation of drugs and in vitro evaluation of nanomedicines. Since the goal of the project is producing effective antifibrotic nanoparticles, the candidate will also evaluate the antifibrotic effect of these biomimetic nanoparticle-based therapies using computed tomography imaging and histology.
