PREDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION IN HIGH-PERFORMANCE COMPUTING AND NEUTRON SCIENCE FOR MATERIALS DISCOVERY

Job Description

The Centro de Física de Materiales – Materials Physics Center is offering a predoctoral
position (1+1+1 years) to work across the research groups of Dr. Pedro B. Coto and Prof.
Félix Fernández Alonso to develop novel materials for energy applications. The candidate,
together with a multi-disciplinary team, will use ab-initio methods, molecular-dynamics
simulations, machine-learning and deep-learning approaches, inelastic neutron scattering
and diffraction, and thermophysical measurements to explore and design novel materials
for energy conversion and storage.
Candidates must hold an MSc degree or equivalent in chemistry, physics, materials
science, or related discipline. Expertise and dexterity in contemporary programming
languages will be positively evaluated. Exposure and/or demonstrated hands-on-experience
in radiation-scattering, spectroscopic techniques (photon, neutron, etc.) or computational
materials modelling would be an asset.
