Job Summary
A research position is available at the Instituto Biofisika (CSIC, UPV/EHU) (https://biofisika.org) under the supervision Dr. Mónica Carril in the FluoroNanoTools Lab to do the PhD thesis. The position has a duration of 3 years, starting on June 1st, 2023 (at the latest).
Job Description
The project will be developed within the recently granted ERANET Neuron project IMatrix (https://www.neuron-eranet.eu/projects/IMatrix/). The main goal of the PhD project will be to design, prepare and validate smart or responsive contrast agents based on fluorinated nanoprobes and to study the role of metalloproteinases after stroke by 19F MRI. It is a multidisciplinary project involving chemistry, nanotechnology and biomedicine that will be carried out in the frame of an international consortium involving experts from Spain, France, Germany and Hungary.
Applicants must have a degree in Chemistry or similar and a Master that gives access to PhD programs. Background in organic synthesis, nanotechnology and biomedicine will be positively valued. Applicants should have a good academic record, good communication skills, a strong passion and commitment to science, and work well within a group. Knowledge of written and spoken English is also needed.
