PI - Postdoctoral Researcher - Untwist Project

Job Summary

The position is associated with the implementation of the Horizon Europe Cluster 2 project ‘UNTWIST Policy recommendations to regain feminist losers as mainstream voters’. By analysing if extreme populist parties are acting as niche parties, substantively representing (but also twisting) the needs and demands of citizens at the margins, UNTWIST will co-create alternative ways of addressing those citizens. The study has a comparative nature (Spain, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland and UK) with partners from all these countries in the consortium.



Research topic. Political Science and Gender studies.

Objectives of the position/Tasks

Literature review and conceptual work within the work packages of the
UNTWIST project.
Planning and coordination of the implementation of the comparative
survey (construction of tools, cooperation with research agencies, etc.).
Analysis and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data within the
framework of the work packages.
Collaboration in the elaboration of deliverables and dissemination reports
of the results obtained in the framework of the project, including research
articles, presentations at conferences, scientific dissemination works.
Participation in project team and consortium meetings when necessary:

Job Description

We offer

Duration: Contracts granted under this call will be full time and will have a
duration of 33 months (April 1 st 2023-Dec 31 st 2025).

Amount and terms of payment. An allocation of 31,486 gross euros per year will
be granted, distributed into 15 monthly installments.

Location. Bilbao

Expected date of incorporation: 2023/04/01

Terms. The contract with the University of Deusto will fall under the “associate
researcher” category.

Additional Requirements

Skill

PhD in social sciences (sociology, political science, psychology) (obtained no later than 01/12/2022).

Research orientation in the fields of democracy studies, preferably political culture, populism, political attitudes and values, and gender studies.

Familiarity with quantitative methods, including survey design and administration and quantitative data analysis.

Knowledge of statistical packages used in the social
sciences (R, Stata, SPSS). General knowledge of qualitative methodology.

Experience in comparative studies

Fluency in English (C1), good communication skills in an international environment, both written (publications, reports) and oral (conference presentations).


Other valuable aspects:

Organisational experience in the implementation of research projects.

Ability to perform effectively both independently and as part of a team,

Professional attitude, academic integrity and collegiality.

Knowledge on one of the other consortium member´s language.
