The Basque Center on Cognition Brain and Language (BCBL) in San Sebastián (Basque Country, Spain) is offering a 4-year funded PhD opportunity. The position is not linked to a specific project; the PhD student will work on research projects with the Neurobiology of Language research group. The research project seeks to examine the involvement of first-order thalamic relay nuclei on the main language systems. We are interested in the fusion of multimodal information from different neuroimaging techniques [(functional and structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as well as electroencephalography (EEG)] to investigate the contribution of thalamic nuclei and thalamic-cortico/cerebellar interactions to language by means of utilizing reading, speech comprehension and speech production research tasks.
Job description: The selected candidate will develop and run behavioral and neuroimaging experiments, analyze data, and disseminate the results in scientific conferences (presentations/posters) and peer-reviewed journals.
PI and research group: candidate will form part of the Neurobiology of Language research group (https://www.bcbl.eu/en/research/research-groups/neurobiology-language) led by Prof. Manuel Carreiras (m.carreiras@bcbl.eu), who will also be the main supervisor.
Salary: 16.640€ gross/year (year 1 and 2); 17.830€ gross/year 3; 22.290€ gross/year 4
