Job Summary

One postdoctoral position is offered to individuals holding a PhD in cognitive neuroscience or psychology and with experience in research on language and speech perception and/or production. The selected candidate will work in the context of the 5-year ERC project Phonemic representations in speech perception and production: Recalibration by reading acquisition (ReadCalibration), supervised by Dr. Clara Martin, within the Speech & Bilingualism group at the BCBL.

The main aim of the ReadCalibration ERC project is to explore the interplay between phonology and orthography in speech perception and production in various populations (children and adults; typically developing or with reading and/or hearing impairments; monolinguals and bilinguals).

Job Description

The successful candidate will work with the PI and potentially with other postdocs and PhD students in the Speech & Bilingualism Group. Our group studies speech and language perception and production, with a special focus on bilingualism and multilingualism. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program that complements the Group’s focus.

Additional Requirements

Skill

Required skills:

Knowledge of the relevant literature
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize relevant theoretical questions, and design appropriate experimental tests of these questions
Good knowledge of the field of cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, and/or (psycho)linguistics
Solid relevant programming and statistical ability
Strong written and spoken English

 
Specific Requirements

Desirable skills:

Methodological skills (e.g., knowledge of behavioral, pupillometry, eye-tracking, and/or EEG methods)
Technical skills related to the manipulation of auditory stimuli (e.g., Praat)
Knowledge of Spanish and/or Basque (or willingness to learn)
