Job Summary
The researcher will study the anomalous properties of a class of particles called "antidual". This kind of particles tend to completely change the polarisation (helicity) of electromagnetic fields, when shined upon. While some antidual particles have been studied, it has been found that they are very difficult to realise.
Job Description
In particular, spherical antidual particles are well known to violate the optical theorem. This means that they require an external source of energy in order to be able to flip the helicity of the incoming radiation.
In this project the researcher will investigate the limitations of any kind of passive particle in order to act as an antidual particle. He or she will also study the symmetries related to such systems and their conserved quantities.
