Job Description
The Joint Research Laboratory on Advanced Pharma Development together with Ikerbasque invites applications for a Tenure-Track or Tenured Group Leader position in 3D Bioprinting, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine in the Joint Research Laboratory at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, Spain.
The candidate is expected to establish a leading research program in the areas of 3D bioprinting, The candidate is expected to establish a leading research program in the areas of 3D bioprinting, micro/nanoscale cell-scaffolding technologies and/or regenerative medicine to develop a range of innovative approaches for tissue and organ regeneration, with a particular focus on personalized medicine involving the use of patient-derived cells to engineer artificial tissues and cell-based therapies.
Potential candidates should have a strong background in vascular, muscular, epithelial tissue engineering, or biomanufacturing of organ-mimicking cellular assembling. Competencies in iPSC-derived organoids and cell reprogramming of patient-derived cells will also be considered.
Additional aspects that will be evaluated are candidate expertise in the physiological functional assessment of artificial tissues, in their three-dimensional morphological characterization, and/or in dealing with bioprinting/microfluidic-based cell-assembly procedures.
The candidate is expected to acquire competitive national and European funding and drive scientific and technical innovation. He/she will work at the interface of multiple research fields while promoting collaborations with international and national research centers. He/she will work as a member of NanoBioCel group, being part of the Joint Research Lab on Advanced Pharma Development initiative.
It is also essential to have outstanding oral and written communication skills and be fluent in English. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Basque will be considered helpful, but it is not compulsory.
This position is funded by the Diputación Foral de Álava and the University of the Basque Country in the campus of Álava and city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. It aims to help to solve major issues in tissue regeneration and repair of defects in a minimally invasive manner using 3D bioprinting technologies working closely with scientists and clinicians.
